Our speaker, Vanessa De Wilde, organizes a MULTIPLEtalkS:
A Long and Winding Road: Exploring Longitudinal Research

In this session, we will look into the challenges and opportunities of doing “longitudinal research” in different fields and across various populations. Vannessa will reflect on her own personal journey with the methodology and share some do’s and don’ts she learned along the way. The interactive talk will raise questions about what defines “longitudinal” research and on its potential within the boundaries of an academic project.

Greet De Baets as booster and Marie Jacobs as discussant

MULTIPLEtalkS is a monthly informal get-together in which a researcher discusses a piece of their own work with other MULTIPLES researchers. During these events we kill multiple birds with one stone: the speaker gets valuable input and feedback on their work, junior and senior researchers get to exchange ideas, we cross the bridge between the two campuses, and we have lunch.

Every MULTIPLEtalkS speaker is joined by a ‘booster’ who helps along and takes notes as well as a discussant who wraps up the discussion.

The format of this MULTIPLEtalkS:

  • Welcome + MULTIPLES updates
  • Booster announces the speaker
  • Speaker discusses a piece of their work (interaction included)
  • Wrap-up by the discussant (5 minutes)
  • Off into the world with food for thought and action 💡

MULTIPLEtalkS is an event at the heart of the MULTIPLES Research Centre and open to researchers from other research groups.

MULTIPLEtalkSWhere?

MULTIPLEtalkS alternate between the campuses of Mercator and Boekentoren. Ideally, they do not take place on the campus where the speaker is based.

MULTIPLEtalkSWhen?

Mostly every third Friday of the month.
